My story

Not content with swimming the 5 Lakes in theLake District last year, I have put myself up for the challenge of swimming the Channel at the ripe OLD age of 52!

The swim is due to take place  between 8th and 13th July (depending on weather etc), and I am currently undergoing a thorough training regime.

The aim of my ultimate challenge is to raise as much money as possible (at LEAST £10,000!!!)  for the Openwork Foundation, which is both a fundraising and grant-giving fund. Cares 4 Kids is the Openwork Foundation's current theme and is designed to support children and young people in the UK and overseas, between the ages of 0 and 18 years, who are disadvantaged - socially, mentally or physically.

Some of the monies raised will also be going to a local charity, Stockdales, via the who provide 24-hour respite and residential care for children and young adults with severe mental and physical disabilities, serious learning difficulties and very special multiple needs.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Zurich Community Trust (UK) Ltd (Openwork Foundation) will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you, so don't forget to use giftaid!

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.

David
