Two years ago I completed my first long distance walk The Cleveland Way and I shall be embarking on my second at the start of May 2009. The motivation for the Cleveland Way was to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care (£3326 was the total raised) because my sister Louise was 3 years into a battle against breast cancer. Sadly, last July after five years of fighting the illness, Louise lost that battle at the age of 43.
This time I am walking the Coast to Coast ,devised and made famous by Alfred Wainwright, to raise funds for The Lavender Trust which is the part of Breast Cancer Care specifically aimed at the younger woman. The C2C is 192 miles long and crosses three national parks from St Bees in the West to Robin Hoods Bay in the east. Contrary creature that I am, I shall be walking it east to west starting on the 2nd May and hopefully finishing two weeks later. Again I am camping en route and carrying everything with me and the battered knees and damaged back are two years older so it will be a serious challenge.
If you want to follow my progress I have a blog at http://fromthebaytothebees.blogspot.com where there is more information on the preparations and hopefully daily updates from the walk itself subject to the technology working.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Lavender Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support.
