The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are.

As most of you will be aware, I started running at Christmas last year with the aim of running the 2008 London Marathon, until I managed to get a stress fracture in my right leg in mid February (the classic 'new runner' injury), which meant I couldn't run for three months.
Since June I've been up at 5am every day to train and have managed to so far stay injury free, so should hopefully be lining up alongside (or quite far behind) Paula Radcliffe on Sunday 2nd November for the New York marathon. While you're tucking into your Sunday roasts, I will be pounding the 26.2 mile course in aid of charity.
I am still running for Macmillan Cancer Support as they have kindly agreed to transfer the sponsorship raised for London over to New York. Having lost my dad to cancer when I was young, I then lost my nan to the same illness two years ago, and saw first hand the great work that the Macmillan nurses did and the support they provided. This is my way of giving something back.
Please give anything you can, no matter how small, as every penny helps. Thanks to all those who have already generously donated.
