Hello!
We are raising money on behalf of The Joe Gilligan Trust which was recently formed to aid teenagers and their families who are suffering with the affects of cancer. The Trust began in the wake of the death of our friend Joe Gilligan who sadly passed away in September 2009. Joe was diagnosed with a Pineal Germ Cell Tumour (Teratoma) in March 2008. After Joe’s initial diagnosis, he and his family found it very difficult to find support groups or other people in a similar dilemma. Most of the research, funding, trials etc seemed to be aimed at the more common cancers. Set up by his parents Craig and Alyson, and with help from family and friends, the Trust exists to support and improve the lives of young adults diagnosed with cancer. As Joe was a drummer, the Trust will also provide support for young musicians.A local student at St Josephs College, Trent Vale, Joe was a keen Stoke City supporter and tried to attend as many games as possible despite his illness. The idea we have is to hold a charity auction of sports memorabilia at the end of October 2010 to signify the 1st year of Joe’s passing. We intend on travelling to every Premier League and Football League Club in the country (92 in total), collecting various pieces of sporting merchandise along the way. We aim to do this within 14 days starting on 11th September 2010. We will start and finish at The Britannia Stadium, and already have the local paper and some businesses on board. Part of our journey will also be televised by BBC Midlands Today and Sky Sports.
Please donate whatever you can to our cause, your support is greatly appreciated.Thank you
