On Tuesday 6th July 2010 a handsome grey colt was born in the early hours of the morning and we're giving our supporters this very unique opportunity to name the little foal.  For a donation of £5, you can enter our competition to suggest a name.
The lucky winner will also receive a one-off framed photograph of Cinnamon and her little foal signed by our Founder, Dr Elisabeth Svendsen as well as be given the chance to visit Brookfield Farm (which isn't open to the public) and make the little foal his first name collar.
Please remember to leave your name, contact details (step 3) and foal's name (step 4) when you make your donation.
Cinnamon came into the Sanctuary in 2009 along with 17 other donkeys following a complaint initiated by our welfare officers in Yorkshire. Prior to their arrival, the RSPCA had cared for the 18 donkeys for about six months pending prosecution of the owner for neglect. Having successfully prosecuted the owner, the RSPCA were able to hand over the donkeys to the Sanctuary.
After our vets had a chance to examine Cinnamon on her arrival, they found that she was about 2 years old and was in foal.  The Donkey Sanctuary does have a no breeding policy but if a donkey that has been relinquished into our care is already pregnant, then the foal is given sanctuary too.
This little foal is the 10,646th donkey now in our care and has sanctuary for life.
In fact, since Cinnamon's arrival in November 2009, we have taken in 172 donkeys up to the date of her foal's birth.
Annie Brown, General Farms Manager, came back from seeing him earlier and said "I could not believe what a wonderful colour he is - a mix of grey, cream and golden hairs, and so soft.  He was really friendly and came straight up to me and nudged me for attention.
When I started to walk away he came right up behind me and followed me across the paddock.  Cinnamon is very kind and patient, and has already developed a strong bond.  She proudly showed him off and did not object to a bit of fuss herself!

This unique competition will run from now until Tuesday 31st August 2010 when our Founder, Dr Elisabeth Svendsen, will draw the winning name out of a hat.
