Dear all
First of all thanks for taking the time to log on to my page and even consider sponsoring me for doing the Virgin London Marathon 2010. In a moment of complete maddness I thought that I would set myself the Herculiean task of running 26.2 miles - I still haven't got my head around doing this yet!
I have choosen a charity close to my heart and have decided to run for the Fighting Blindness charity (The British Retinitis Pigmentosa Society) who are doing great work to combat blindness in the UK. Why I chose this charity is simple - my Grandma (some of whom you will know her, others obviously will not) has been partially sighted / blind through Retinitis Pigmentosa for 10 years now and as with so many of these things there is an element of hereditary behavoiur with the disease so I hope that charities like the BRPS will not only continue to offer support and help to people like my Grandma but also keep working towards a future where we are able to combat effectively degentive eye disorders.
Anything that you can spare will be greatly appreciated. As you all know I am not built for long distance running and dragging my sorry ass around 26.2 miles of London will be a lot easier with the knowledge of your support.
I will keep you all uptodate with my training and hopefully I will see as many of you as possible between now and April 25, 2010 to pester you for more sponsorship.
Much love
Doug x
