Brazil edge out Holland and Honduras in exciting final

''A brilliant day for the town, a fantastic experience for the competitors and a great cause to raise money for'' - Just one of many kind words from people taking part at the event.

My  thanks to everyone who took part and worked so hard to make it possible. Thanks for all your support and let's smash the new £20,000 target!

In 2006, I walked from home in Essex to Frankfurt and the World Cup to honour our son, Tim's, dream of supporting England at the Championships. Sadly, Tim had lost his battle against acute leukaemia only a few months before and couldn't make the trip himself. It was a very emotional but also uplifting journey with so much kindness and good fortune - Tim was watching all the way.

This year we are bringing a taste of the 2010 World Cup to Chelmsford by staging the Essex Dragon Boat World Cup on June 13th. With 32 teams each adopting a participating country, we're staging our own tournament, just 24 hours after England's first match. It will be a great day out for all the teams and their supporters. More importantly, it will raise vital funds to help other young people with blood cancers and give them the chance to make their dreams come true.

More people under the age of 40 die from blood cancer than any other cancer so whether you are sponsoring a paddler or a whole team or just want to support our cause, please make a donation. Quite simply, the more money raised, the more lives saved

We had a great evening at the Dragon Boat World Cup Draw so have a look and see which team has adopted each country and support your favourites.
