Hi to all you wonderful and generous people. Here's the gig..
I have decided to embark on what will be an arduous and highly dangerous walk in and around Nepal - well, maybe not so, but remember I'm unfit and live an unhealthy life so it won't be the same as the fantastic trip of a lifetime that all other participants will have.
On a serious note, however, I am trying to raise as much money as possible and so I'm relying on your generosity - I will cover my travel/accomodation expenses etc so everything you give will go directly to the charity's projects. These projects are managed by International Childcare Trust (ICT) and you can find more details on their website www.ict-uk.org .
ICT is a tremendous charity helping those seriously underprivileged children around the world who are deprived of so much and struggle to survive every single day.
If you can help in any way I'm sure you'll feel a whole lot better and of course many will be benefitting from anything you give and all of us will be hugely grateful so do what you can.
Here's where your money can help.
£6 a month will protect a child from abuse and exploitation.
£40 will enable an orphaned child to buy school uniform and clothes.
£105 would help to provide bursaries for three deprived young people looking for options for the future.
£800 provides a child protection training to local businesses in Sihanoukville (), such as hostels, tuk-tuk drivers and internet cafes, to enable them to recognise and report child abuse/suspicious behaviour and help protect local children from dangerous situations.
£1,000 provides the annual salary of a teacher at Kalki Drop-in Centre in – who helps provide remedial/life skills education for up to 300 street children each day.
£1,800 provides medical check ups, basic treatment & hospital referrals for 150 children living with HIV/AIDS in each year.
