Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Roy was born in Inglewood, Western Australia on the 18th August, 1933. He was educated at Inglewood State School and Scotch College in Swanbourne. After trying farming, the hire industry and having his own business, he made the cathartic move to Port Hedland where he seemed to become comfortable in his own skin, very attuned to nature and his own creativity. He began to write poetry and in his own words, was less driven by his ego. It was in the northwest that he truly found himself.

He loved his camper trailer and happily took many members of the family and visitors to Broome, Marble Bar, Bamboo Creek, Millstream, Wittenoom and other wonderful places.

In 1997 just as he retired, it became apparent that a cruel disease was beginning to take him away from his family and he was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2000. He passed away in 2009 after such a long farewell, however now he can be remembered as the wonderful guy he was – a loving husband, dad, brother, grandy, uncle and friend – the beautiful complicated man that was Roy Marshall Stone.

I hope to raise some money and awareness for Alzeimer's Research by embarking on some personal challenges over the next few years.

My first journey will be the Coast to Coast walk, from St Bees to Robin Hood's Bay in Yorkshire. My partner Monica and I plan to set off on this journey on the 31st of March. We will be camping along the way carrying all the nessecities for the trip on our backs.

Please support our trip by sharing this link or donating. Every quid will be greatly appreciated by our charity.
