As you probably know I do the occasional slightly challenging event anyway but I was given the chance to enter what I feel is the most difficult thing I have ever attempted for a charity that is extremely close to my heart! It’s so important to their work that they raise money through events like this as they receive no government funding.
These people make a real difference to lives and life expectancy.
From a personal perspective I can assure you that I will endure considerable pain (something that people seem to appreciate) through training and racing and am currently still coming to terms with the idea of cycling and running through the middle of Windsor in nothing but Lycra!?! For anyone that doesn’t know the Triathlon involves swimming 1.5km then cycling 42km then running 10km (before collapsing in an undignified heap). At Windsor the swim takes place in the River Thames and the first 800m are upstream, making it a bit more difficult, so finding out as I start training that I can’t really swim that well at all is a bit of a concern!
You are obviously encouraged to donate money here before I don the comedy outfit and jump in a river so to encourage people to be generous, and in the spirit of the Banana Army, I’ve uploaded the most embarrassing photo I could find of myself from an adventure race last year! Any photos taken of me in a tri-suit will be searched out and destroyed!!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Leukaemia Research will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Your support is really appreciated and I assure you it all counts!
Cheers,
Eamonn
