Why your donation matters

At Eaves we offer a holistic approach to overcoming experiences of violence and we empower women to move on and live independent, happy lives. Eaves is the umbrella organisation that runs many projects supporting vulnerable women. Here is a break down of what we do and where your money goes:

Poppy Project - support and housing for women trafficked into the UK.

Scarlet Centre - advice and drop in centre for vulnerable women who have experienced any form of violence.

Serafina - support and housing to women fleeing domestic violence

Sojourner - support and housing for women fleeing domestic violence who have no recourse to public funds

Lilith Research and Development - vital, innovative research into violence against women and campaigning and lobbying to protect women's rights

Case study: donations in action

Safia and her young daughter Naeema came to an Eaves refuge after a prolongued experience of domestic violence from her husband, Jaleel. Safia stayed with Jaleel due to the fear of shaming herself and her family if she left. Finally, after being asked by Naeema who would look after her if she died, Safia knew she had to leave.

"It was hard to talk to anyone at first; I was so ashamed. But the refuge staff were very nice and patient; they encouraged us to go to family therapy. They helped get Naeema into a local school, and she even won a race at the refuge sports day. At Eaves I felt like I could take control of my life. I enrolled in Eaves’ English classes and was surprised how quickly my English improved. I am now doing a computer IT course and a healthcare course. I hope to be a nurse someday.”
