New Developments
Alim Course
Ebrahim College has launched a complete Alim course in 2006 aiming to offer all of the Islamic sciences mentioned above at undergraduate level. This course will culminate with students receiving the traditional Ijazah recognised in traditional madrasahs so that they can serve as Ulama and Imams in the Muslim community. The Alim course is also integrated with a BA in Islamic Sciences as detailed below:
BA Islamic Sciences and Society
This course will be offered from 2007 subject to validation by the University of Gloucestershire. It will be the first ever BA in Islamic Sciences to be validated by a mainstream University as opposed to the usual Islamic Studies courses that Universities offer. The BA is integrated with the Alim Course at Ebrahim College and will form a necessary but not sufficient part of it. The BA will also be offered as a course independent of the Alim course for students who are only interested in it. Further details of this development will be available in due course.
