About the charity

Disability Essex (Essex Disabled People's Association Ltd) is a registered charity set up in 1947 to enable people with any disability to control their own lives and enjoy to the full the opportunities which society, the economy and the environment provide. We currently help over 15,000 people each year and continuously strive to find new ways to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities of all ages vulnerable to social exclusion and poverty. Our work is driven by the needs of the people we help, ensuring we are always providing services that make a real difference to our beneficiaries lives.
