MAG - Community Challenge Cambodia 2010 · 25 November 2010 ·

Every single day, 17 people are killed or injured because of landmines and other explosive weapons. Almost half of all civilian casualties are children. MAG finds and destroys these weapons to save lives and rebuild futures; helping people to grow crops, attend school and build homes.

Story

In November 2010 I will leave for Cambodia for 1,5 week to help victims of landmines ...

About the Mines Advisory Group

MAG is a humanitarian organisation that clears remainders of warfare (landmines, bombs, etc) all over the world and helps victims of so-called UXO (unexploded ordnance). I first got into contact with MAG when visiting Phonsavon in Laos and was very impressed with the excellent work they do there. When I was approached by MAG with the question to participate in their Community Challenge Cambodia 2010 it did not take a lot of hesitation for me to sign up.

About the Community Challenge Cambodia 2010

The Community Challenge Cambodia 2010 is an event MAG organises in order to raise 40.000 GBP. Twenty volunteers will be raising individual funds and will be visiting Cambodia to help build housing for victims of landmines. About the fundraising

In a way it's a bit silly to send 20 westerners over to Cambodia to help build houses, isn't it? Well, the whole idea is that each volunteer will raise at least 3000 GBP, of which at least half goes straight to MAG for their worldwide activities. The rest of the amount is needed to cover the costs of the event itself. Now, since I don't want you to think that you'll be financing another one of my trips, I've decided to pay for the flight tickets and registration fee myself (a total of 1300 Euro). Consider this my personal share in helping MAG. I will attempt to raise the rest of the necessary fund (at least 2200 GBP) through this website and other means. I hope you sympathize with MAG and will help me get to this amount and beyond!
