Their uniforms are worn with pride
Why your donation matters
We use education supported with nutritional and medical assistance to break the cycle of poverty found in the slums of India. beginning in the slums we provide basic education gradually building up the confidence of the children before they attend one of our centres where their education continues and they become acclimatised to a classroom environment. Once ready a child will become part our main educational project, receiving their first school uniform, which is always worn with pride, they are taught maths, English, science, geography and crafts, all which comply with the Indian curriculum. Finally they will register with the local state school, where we continue to provide them with financial and social support. Donate now to give a child the chance to a future away from the slums.
Case study: donations in action
Krishna Nayak’s Success Story Due to the family’s financial situation Krishna was sent out to work in a bar, back in 2009, at just 10 years of age. A concerned bystander reported him as an underage worker to the Child Protection Commissioner and as a result Krishna was arrested & detained in a Rehabilitation Centre. His distraught parents approached Diego Baptista, Managing Trustee from Educators' Trust India, to help them get Krishna released. With Diego’s help the Child Welfare Committee finally agreed to release Krishna provided that the parents agreed to send him to school. Krishna started at our New Light Special Training Centre before moving to Leading Light, our Main Educational Centre in 2010. Krishna proved to be a fast learner and moved to a main stream school in 2011. He continues to keep in touch with us attending Leading Light School every afternoon for extra tuition and curricular activities.
Just one of the many children who benefit from the work of Educators' Trust India
