My name is Eiona Roberts and thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I’m 51 years of age and have Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis which started as benign 21 yrs ago. I’m still mobile on my legs but for very short periods of time only, therefore the day at home can be very long.

The only way I’ve managed to get by when I get patches of decreased mobility is with the invaluable 24/7 support of the Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre and its online community of like people.

Two years ago, MSRC first issued their annual My Marathon Challenge in which we, our families and friends are encouraged to raise much needed money for MSRC because it relies solely on charitable donations to keep afloat. The event is based around the figure of 26.2, this being the number of miles of the Flora London Marathon which is MSRC’s biggest source of revenue.

My challenge this year will be to remain afloat myself. By this I mean that I shall swim non-stop for 26.2 minutes (front crawl). I don’t know how many lengths I can manage  in this time therefore people may donate a lump sum for my effort or a certain amount of money per length – the total number of lengths will be revealed after my swim, however I anticipate it to be in the region of 35 + lengths. 

I shall be doing this on a day between 29^th May and 1^st June 2006 - more details to follow.
