Fluorescent Lighting Services, commercial and industrial electrical contractors based in Birmingham, are joining forces with a local cancer charity to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer. For the month of October, FLS will be replacing their red logo with a pink version to raise awareness for local breast cancer charity Breast Friends. Breast Friends offer practical help to breast cancer sufferers ranging from the loan of equipment - electronically operated chairs, stairlifts, beds and folding wheelchairs to domestic help such as gardening, ironing and childcare. They also provide emotional support to local patients diagnosed breast cancer.
Fluorescent Lighting Services are going to donate a percentage of all sales during October – Breast Cancer Awareness Month, to Breast Friends and are also seeking sponsors for their ‘Electricians go pink’ week.
Bernadette Stone, General Manager of Fluorescent Lighting Services said ‘As a Company we believe in supporting Charities, every year instead of purchasing corporate Christmas cards we donate to a chosen charity, this year we have decided to go one step further. Several members of staff have had their lives touched by Breast Cancer, including myself, as have many of our Customers and we believe we have found an eye-catching way of supporting and raising awareness of a local charity that many people don’t even know exist”.
During the last week of October FLS will be replacing their normally red logo with a pink one and all of their electricians will be wearing pink in aid of the Breast Friends charity. Peter Turner, Managing Director of FLS said ‘We are aiming to raise £1000 and hope that our staff, working in and around Birmingham dressed in pink, as well as the temporary change to our Company logo will go a long way to raising the profile of a small but extremely important local charity’.
Bernadette added, ‘The good work that Breast Friends does in the local community can be overshadowed by larger organisations, the practical and emotional support they offer people is invaluable. We believe that by joining in during Breast Cancer Awareness month, we can have some fun, raise some funds and most importantly, raise awareness for a worthy local charity’. And so far we have received great support from some of our suppliers, with Baker Ward Ltd providing the temporary logos for our vehicles free of charge’.
