Every year around 450 children like four-year-old Olivia Murphy are diagnosed with leukaemia. Thankfully, after chemotherapy which left her in terrible pain, Olivia is now recovering, but doctors must continue to monitor Olivia and also her twin Isabella, who is 200 times more likely than other children to develop leukaemia.
Leukaemia Research scientists have already identified a genetic mistake which may lead to leukaemia in children. They now need to carry out tests to understand what happens after the child's birth, which means that some children develop leukaemia and others do not.
