In memory of Alec Normand we are raising money for the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust. Alec was only nine when he tragically passed away in January from an inoperable brain-stem tumour. He was a keen musician and I was privileged to teach him.
Four memebers of staff are trying to raise money in memory of Alec by learing to play another instrument other than the one we teach; we are all going to take AB grade 1 exams in the autumn term and hope that you will sponsor us.
The teachers and instruments involved are:
Kate Addis, clarinet
Mick Allport, double bass
Rebecca Totterdell, French horn
Tom Ainger, violin
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us; Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust (SDBTT) will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no extra cost to you.
We would like to thank all our families and friends who will have to hear us squeaking, squawking and spliting notes over the next few months. We will let you know the results of the exams as soon as we get them.
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.
20/01/09 UPDATE:
Rebecca got a distinction for her grade 1 French horn exam and I managed to get a more modest merit for grade 1 clarinet.
Tom Ainger will be taking grade 1 violin this term and Mick Allport's double bass exam will be next term.
Many thanks for all you wonderful support.
Kate
