Hello!

Thanks for coming this far to check out my fundraising page.  I am so pleased to be able to run the London Marathon next April for several reasons but probably the most important is so i can (hopefully!) raise oodles of pennies for Breast Cancer Haven. 

Many of you will know i lost my boss and friend Helen Chalmers to Breast Cancer several months ago and ever since have tried to raise funds for her chosen charity 'The Haven'.  The marathon has given me an opportunity to really help raise some serious cash for a charity that was very close to Helen and helped her through many a difficult time.

The Haven is slightly different to any other Breast Cancer charity in that it offers support both emotionally and physically to women who have just been told they have the disease or are living with it day to day.  Having visited recently i can hand on heart say that this truly is a wonderful place.  They offer counselling to help come to terms with the disease and also non medical treatments to try and alleviate pain and discomfort such as massage and acupuncture.  They also offer advice through workshops and one on ones covering all sorts of topics from nutrtion through to wig fitting.  It really truly is a Haven for women suffering with this terrible disease.

I want to try and raise as much for them as possible, this is a personal crusade for me and for Helen! My target is £2500 pounds which sounds an awful lot but with your help i can achieve and even exceed it.

Just so you have faith in what i am undertaking here i have already started my training and am up to 9 miles, i have a half marathon at the end of November and another in March next year.  I hope in return for my hours of pounding the London streets then you can help me with whatever you can on my way to the target of £2500.  It is my first time (as a marathon runner) so need all your support!
