Emmanuel is the project manager for Climate Stewards tree planting projects in the Kumasi area of Ghana. He is managing plantations in around 15 different schools and colleges and has to visit them all by bus to monitor progress and advise the growers. When he wants to use a computer he has to borrow a laptop or visit a cyber cafe. He could do his job so much more efficiently with a secondhand motor bike and a laptop. Together with fuel for a year these would cost just £2,242.
Climate Stewards is A Rocha's climate change initiative. The trees Emmanuel is planting will help absorb some of the carbon dioxide which is causing climate change at the same time as helping the schools doing the planting and providing a good environment for wildlife.
