In memory of Nick Kkama
Donations cannot currently be made to this page
Papyrus is a young person’s suicide prevention charity. That means we provide urgent support, education, campaigns and conversations that keep children and young people safe from suicide. And above all else, we’re here. We’re always here. That’s how we save lives.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

We did it!!!

On Nick's birthday, Nicks mum Kathy, his aunty Anna and I walked over 10k in memory of him and in order to raise money and awareness of our charities.

We started off handing our leaflets out in Sainsburys, Winchmore Hill, then drove on to do the same in Asda, Southgate. That is where the walk began after handing out leaflets for Lancaster Garage [one of our sponsors]. We walked up Chase Side, past Saracens and Chicken Shed then down Bramley Road to Oakwood Station. Then walked past Oakwood Park and down Green Dragon Lane, into Jim Thompsons [to use the ladies]. We said hi to Nick's barber Rona and pinched some of her deodrant! Then passed the Broadway and went up Station Road, up Broad Walk, passed Grovelands Park and up Bourne Hill to Southgate Station, our destination. We took loads of pictures on the way! [ www.flickr.com/photos/nicks-walk/ ].

Want to say a big thank you to everyone who supported us and who have donated. Also a big thank you to Kathy and Anna for walking with me and making it not seem like we were walking! Between us we raised over £1000. Kathy walked for SOBS, a charity supporting those bereaved by suicide, so please take a minute to check out her page [ www.justgiving.com/kathykkama ]. If you still want to donate please please do and if you cant at the moment or feel particularly generous one day, this page isn't going anywhere and donations are always greatly welcomed. Thank you everyone again for your support.

Want to take this opportunity to say  thank you to all the special people in my life who have been the best ever and supported me through the past year. Thanks to my family, my friends, Harry my little boy and Nicks family. You have given me strength and inspiration and I love you millions.

Lots of love Emma xxx

' Each year in the UK 1800 young people between 15 and 34 end their own lives, more than 1300 of these are young men.' PAPYRUS, 2007.

So many young men today are finding life too difficult and feel like they have no where to turn. Being men, they feel like they cant go to the doctor or a councillor or even confide in family and friends. They might possibly look on the net for answers but when doing so the lack of support and the huge possibility of being directed to a site which actually tells them to end it all by comitting suicide and the easiest methods to choose, is not the support required by a vulnerable person needing answers.

Nick was such a special person to me and i miss him so very much. I cant be there for him now, just remember the happiness he brought and the memories of the time we spent together. I found PAPYRUS on the net, a national charity comitted to the prevention of young suicide. Please have a look at their website to see how important their work is. (www.papyrus-uk.org/).

Nicks mum Kathy and I will be doing a 6 mile charity walk on the 10th May(Nicks birthday) to raise money for PAPYRUS. So please help by sponsoring me and donating money to raise funds. If the money raised could help to save the precious life of someone special like Nick, it is a hundred per cent truly worth it.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: Papyrus (Prevention Of Suicides) will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support xxx
