Story

Jack is our beautiful miracle baby.  At 3 weeks old, we thought we would have to say goodbye to him but now he is 8 years old and we are so proud of him.   Registered blind, non-verbal and with a life-limiting condition, we relish every day that we get to spend with him and just marvel at how much he has defied the odds and continues to achieve.

During Covid19, Jack has to be shielded.  To amuse ourselves throughout the day, we look for fun things to do.  Inspired by Captain Tom, we decided to join in the 2.6 Challenge.  The original plan was for Jack to walk 7 widths of the garden which was a massive challenge for him, but he did it!  He loved it so much, he walked 11 lengths which is 44 metres altogether.  Kevin and I were there to cheer him on and he managed it unaided.   I am so proud of Jack.  He loved doing it, particularly the bit when he hit the fence as a signal that the length was completed.

More importantly, it was something we could all do together as a family, for Chestnut Tree House, our local children's hospice,  to show how much they mean to us – they are just amazing.    But, coronavirus is having a devastating impact on its funding.  It costs £400,000 a month to run Chestnut Tree House because families like us can use their services for free. Right now, they are losing 70% of their monthly fundraising income because they have had to close all their shops and cancel all of their events.

Now more than ever, they need your help.  I ask if you would join me, Kevin and Jack to help raise some vital funds for them so that children like Jack can still enjoy the benefit of their expertise and caring.  I just don't know what we would do without them.  If you are able, please help.  No donation is too small if we all come together.

Jack, Kevin and I are going to carry on with our fundraising and we will start posting pictures so please keep looking here for an update and, if you can spare some change, we would be so grateful.
