I’m supported by a great family: my wonderful wife, Wendy, and the children Hannah and Rhys. And now it’s my privilege, through my job, to have the opportunity to help families across our nation. Big ones, small ones, ordinary and extraordinary, those loving family life and those finding it tough right now, those celebrating the start of family life or new arrivals, those grieving tragic loss.
Care for the Family is a charity that seeks to support all kinds of families through the ups and downs of everyday family life. It's quite unique in its approach, supporting families across the social spectrum many of whom are not in crisis situations but simply need support to be a better mum or dad or partner. I've seen first hand how Care for the Family helps couples build strong marriages that endure and flourish through the toughest of times. I've seen how parents are supported in the incredible task of raising children - building their confidence and giving them a little toolkit of wisdom for the task ahead. I've seen families hit by the trauma of losing a child or being widowed at a young age find a little hope when it seemed all hope was gone.
I'm running the Cardiff Half Marathon so that more families will continue to be supported through the events, resources, training and free support networks that Care for the Family offers (
