Why your donation matters

October 2012 will mark ten years since the birth of Encompass. Founded following the tragic events of the Bali Bombing in which 28 year-old Daniel Braden and 201 others lost their lives, Encompass tackles the root causes of extremism. By bringing young people together from the world’s greatest divides (faith, culture and conflict), we transform prejudiced attitudes and tackle the dehumanisation of ‘the other’. Encompass is growing, but we need your help!

Case study: donations in action

Amit Tells His Story: I came to the Encompass programme in 2006 having served as a solider in the Lebanon war. I wanted to meet the people that for years I had been educated to see as my enemies, and to do so for the first time without a helmet and a gun. Encompass was a gift. I felt at home from the start. I had the chance to sit down with people like myself, both Palestinians and Israelis. These are people who have seen war, lost their family and friends, and been taught to hate each other. I had the feeling that it all could be different. We found that we have much more in common than what divides us and that our pain is so similar. We realized that the only way to prevent further escalation of the conflict is to communicate and to work together.
