British Limbless Ex-Service Men's Association (Blesma)

BLESMA is the Charity that directly supports all our service men and women who lose limbs, the use of limbs or eyes or the sight of an eye in the service of our country and we are with them all whenever we are needed for the rest of their lives. Our work starts with rehabilitation – proving that there is life after amputation. Our work is about amputee helping amputee – the fellowship of shared experience. Our work is about life long welfare support, about campaigning for what they deserve and about being there when old injuries come back to haunt. Our youngest Member is 19 and our oldest is 99 – truly we are BLESMA for life.

My story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Why are we doing it? Last year we lost our dad suddenly to cancer. We were touched by the care he received in a local hospice so we enbanked to raise some money for both Queenscourt Hospice and BLESMA.

Why BLESMA? Well Jonathan(current serving Solider), served in Iraq in 2003 with 7^th Armoured Brigade 'The Desert Rats' and whose Battalion 2^nd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment is currently fighting in Afghanistan, we were keen to raise funds for the young and old soldiers who have sadly lost their limbs. For this BLESMA is our charity of choice to support these heroic soldiers and their families. We all take for granted the use of our limbs - let demonstrate that we acknowledge and appreciate their loss for us.
