Hi,
I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in June 2005 at the age of 29. It was a real shock and I doubted whether I would ever be able to live a normal life. After a period of readjustment, I decided to actively prove that Insulin Dependant Diabetes is no bar to a normal life. At the same time I thought that I would attempt to raise as much money for Diabetes charities as I could.
I decided that the best way to raise money as well as prove that diabetic people can live a normal life was to take part in endurance sports.
The following is a list of all the events in the Endurance for Diabetes fundraising challenge. The challenge is almost over. It culminates with my involvement in Ironman Western Australia on 7 December 2008. This event will involve a 2.4 mile swim, 112 bike ride and a full marathon of 26.2 miles to be completed within 17 hours.
We have so far raised over £3000.00. I would like to make it £5000.00.
