About Epilepsy Action

British Epilepsy Association (BEA) is the UK's biggest member led epilepsy charity. BEA exists to improve the quality of life for people with epilepsy, the neurological condition that affects more than 420,000 people in the UK, or one in 130 of the population.

BEA directly helps more than 315,000 people each year through a freephone helpline and network of 120 branches, providing advice, information and support.

BEA's vision is of a world where everyone understands epilepsy and where people's attitudes are informed by fact not fiction. BEA's clear and accessible information materials provide reassurance and jargon free facts and figures to those affected by epilepsy.

This is supplemented by BEA's work with health care professionals, and the Sapphire Nurse scheme is seeing improvements at every level of health care provision.

More than 90 per cent of BEA's income is in the form of voluntary contributions and the vital work of BEA would not be possible without the financial support of the general public.
