Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page!

I have decided to go on a fundraising cycle ride to Chile this September (24 September - 4 October 2009), in support of Computer Aid International. You all know I can be very charitable, and I do think very highly of this organization.

Computer Aid International (http://www.computeraid.org UK reg charity no 1069256) is a charity I believe in and support. They provide recycled, donated, or new PCs to developing nations on the African and South American continents. These PCs help rural communities become more connected, with training and education. Sectors like healthcare, poverty reduction and community radio stations which empower women also benefit. They have shipped over 100,000 PCs to more than 100 developing countries! I’ve spearheaded donations to Computer Aid for the past 6 years at this and my last company, donating approximately 40 PCs and monitors.

The cycle ride will last for 6 days and we’ll cycle over 375 kilometers (almost 250 miles). We will cycle by Chilean lakes, volcanoes and also we’ll get to visit a community where the PCs have made a difference. This will be a tough challenge for me, and I will be vigorously training for the next few months with nightly and weekend cycle rides to get my body ready for the strenuous activity. Half of the ride will be uphill, with the first day alone gaining altitude of over 700m. Hopefully some of you will be able to join me on some training cycle rides I have planned.

The minimum sponsorship I need to raise is £2,900. I have set myself a personal goal of raising at least £3,400, as this also will cover the registration fee and the airport taxes. This amount will be enough to provide an entire PC lab with 20 computers to a disadvantaged school.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Computer Aid International gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
