Update 15/01 - Encouraged by the clear blue sky, we all ran last Saturday. The fact that it was bitterly cold made us run even faster! The boys managed their 2.5km without really breaking into a sweat & reached their target in 10 & 12 minutes. I also managed to finish the 5 km race, but decided to do some 'wunning' (ie combination of walking & running!!!)...and completed the track in 43 minutes....yep, I know! Thank you again for your kind contributions - those donations will be put to very good use! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. We are members of the Robb family: mum (Josianne - 30 something), and the 2 boys (Jack - 7, and Max - 9). We are taking part in the Edinburgh BUPA Great Winter Run (5 km) and the Junior Great Winter Run (2.4km) on January 12th, 2008 to raise money for Emergency Search Dogs. Mum was athletic once, several years ago, and is taking this opportunity to get fit again to run the race as fast as she can. As for Max & Jack - they're very fit (& will probably put their mum to shame), but it is their first attempt at doing a 2.4 km run ...it is also their first attempt at raising money for charity.
Now, a bit about the charity we are supporting: it is called ESD and is special to us because Gavin (dad) and our 2 dogs (Sam and Buster - Buster's not on the picture) have been part of this charity for about 3 years, now. Earlier this year, Gavin & Sam reached an important milestone when they qualified. This means that they could be called upon at any time, when the need arises.
ESD is based in Fife, Scotland, and provides a search and rescue service for collapsed building and other major incidents throughout the UK and abroad. All of our team members are volunteers. Check out the ESD website for further details & pictures: http://www.emergencysearchdogs.co.uk Emergency Search Dogs receives no government funding and relies solely on donations from members of the public (as well as their friends & families!!) to cover the essential running costs of the group, including safety equipment for the dogs and handlers. All donations will therefore be very gratefully received.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Emergency Search Dogs will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Thank you for your interest and many thanks for your support, no matter how large or small, every little helps!
Max, Jack & Josianne
