My story

How nice of you to visit my fundraising page.

It would of course be even nicer if you were to avail yourself of the opportunity to donate some funds while you are here. It's quite painless. And your money will go to the Anthony Nolan Trust.

In return for your donation to them, I'll attempt to run the London Marathon in April.

I believe this arrangement will hurt me more than it hurts you.

I should say that the Anthony Nolan Trust signed me up for the marathon, and it will be deeply embarrassing if I don't raise quite a bit. The more of you who donate here, the more likely it is I won't end up with egg on my face.

Just for you to know, the Anthony Nolan Trust is a rather clever charity, that matches potential bone marrow donors, to patients needing transplants.

Every year in the UK 24,000 children and adults are newly diagnosed with leukaemia. This form of cancer strikes indiscriminately and kills more children than any other disease. But leukaemia is one of the most treatable forms of cancer and if, in a race against time, a suitable bone marrow donor is found, a life may be saved.

Incidentally, young men make the most successful bone marrow donors but are currently under represented on the bone marrow register. More and more of them, from all ethnic backgrounds, need to join the register and save lives.

All in all, it's a very good thing.

Evan

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. The Anthony Nolan Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Many thanks for your support.
