My story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

We Did It!!!!

Whoo, it was seriously hard work and would never have been achieved without some very kind and supportive friends along the way.  Iam Begg and Ruth Fiskin gave us a wonderfull send off  on the Friday afternoon.  Neil and Maggie Sutherland near Inverness, gave us a bed for the first night and the best veg from their own gardens, which I'm sure gave me the energy to be getting it all off on a great start.

The weather was kind on the first day.  By Sunday however, it started to get very wet, and cold, and there were so many uphills, that I was beginning to have my doubts, the legs were getting shaky and spirits plummetted.  If it hadn't been for Mandy Ketchin, Dave & Mo, Graham and Laurence and ofcourse all the children, who so bravely faced the rain to cycle out to Inverlochy to welcome us with a picnic and flask of tea, I think I might have given up there and then.  It was a wonderful effort guys, thank so much.

As you can see, I still have lots of money to raise, so please give generously, I've done my bit.

Did you see us on the telly?  Aparantly we were on GMTV and on STV.

Also in the 'Press and Journal' for the Aberdeen and the Highlands and ofcourse in the Edinburgh Evening News, so lots of media attention.  It was mainly light hearted and supportive coverage from the media.

It was quite funny, we did get many honks and looks on the trip, I wondered if these were people who had seen us on TV.

You can still sponsor us, even after the event, just click on the donate button below.

------------------------------------

What are we doing?

We are going to cycle the whole length of the Caledonian Canal from Inverness to Fort William, about 60+ miles including the forests and mountain tracks, notwithstanding the midges, my unfitness and the weather.

Why?

To raise £1200 for the Maun Homeopathy Project. I don’t know how long it will take; I hope I can do it in less than 3 days.   Your generous sponsorship to the Maun Homeopathy Project will be a great boost to them and to my moral.

When?

The last weekend in August

Have a look at the map on the left, it is the route from Inverness to Fort William.  Then there are some pictures of Sebastian who is also doing the canal ride, only he will be cycling backwards (something he does!).  You might think his is the harder task, but don't forget who has to ride behind him and guide him by shouting "no, left a bit" "there's a puddle in the middle of the road" the road veers to the right in 10 yards"...what a nightmare!

Your gift is a one of donation, not per mile so donate now, I will keep you informed of progress via this page.  All monies donated go directly where it is needed most, to the Maun Project's bank account.

(If you would you like tickets for the fundraising Ceilidh on 27th September in Edinburgh, contact either me or Sebastian?)

Lots and lots of thanks for your generous donation today it will keep me going as well as the Maun Project……..
