In less than a month Iain and Elaine are taking part in a trek to Everest Base Camp over 3 weeks in April 2010, covering more than 100km and finsihing at Everest Base Camp at 5,647m (18,500ft) above sea level, thats about the cruising altitude of a flight from Belfast - London! Every penny raised as part of this trip will be go in full to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
The RNLI provides a 24hour a day rescue service around the coast of the UK and Ireland as well as on many inland waterways and lifeguard cover for some of our busiest beaches! Since the RNLIs formation in 1824 they have saved over 137,000 lives, enough people to fill the millenium stadium twice. The RNLI is crewed entirely by volunteers and they rely solely on donations from people like you and me exist! see www.rnli.org.uk for more details!
