My story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor Kris & me online. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Love Hope Strength Foundation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

In October this year Kris and I will be participating in a trek to the base camp of Mount Everest to raise money for the Love Hope Strength Foundation (LHSF). LHSF is a charity founded by Leukaemia survivors Mike Peters of Welsh rock band The Alarm and US entertainment insurance executive James Chippendale as a way to give back by building a support network for cancer patients worldwide.  You can find out more about LHSF on their website www.lovehopestrength.com or you can watch a 10 minute video on You Tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5uy4xabJL94&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ethealarm%2Ecom%2F

Through participating in the trek, Kris and I have committed to raising £25,000 so we are looking to all our family, friends, work colleagues and business contacts in the , and throughout the world to support us via sponsoring us on this trek!  £25,000 is an ambitious target – that’s 500 people donating £50 each or 250 people donating £100 each.

“Everest Rocks” will involve a group of 45 musicians, mountaineers, cancer survivors, those whose lives have been affected by cancer and invited friends on the adventure of a lifetime trekking to the base camp of Mt Everest for an acoustic concert and then culminating in a grand finale rock concert in Kathmandu .  Most of the musicians are from the UK and include not only Mike Peters but also Slim Jim Phantom (Stray Cats), Billy Duffy (The Cult) and Glenn Tilbrook (Squeeze). The trek will also be filmed by an MTV/BBC team for a prime time documentary to be shown on the BBC in the UK .

Cancer is one of the world’s most powerful killers. It knows no borders, sees no colour, race, religion, age or socio-economic demographic. Globally, cancer accounts for more than 7 million deaths each year and will touch each of us in our lifetime.

We’ll gladly accept all amounts however small but are hoping that most people can dig deep and commit at least £50 to help us reach our £25,000 target.

Thanks for your support!

Cheers

Matt
