Thanks for taking the time to visit Matt Hill and Chris Medland's Everest Adventure JustGiving page.
Matt and Chris will be travelling to Nepal in January 2011 with one aim - to survive! Hopefully with a lot of preparation and the skills of the sherpas this aim will be met. Secondly they would like to raise money for research into CMT.
Charcot Marie Tooth Syndrome (CMT), also known as Hereditary Motor and Sensory Neuropathy (HMSN), or Peroneal Muscular Atrophy, is a heterogeneous inherited disorder of nerves that is characterized by loss of muscle tissue and touch sensation, predominantly in the feet and legs but also in the hands and arms in the advanced stages of disease. More information about CMT can be found at:

Matt and Chris have of course paid for their expedition themselves so every penny donated will be going to CMT UK to enable them to continue their research programme. Matt and Chris will be undertaking a route which will take 2 weeks to complete, reaching Mt Everest Base Camp and then the peak of Kalar Patar at 5545m. The expedition is graded as ‘strenuous’ with walks of up to eight hours per day, uphill. Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) is a real possibility, but being absolutely knackered to the point of tears is definite. Matt and Chris will no doubt be better equipped to fight through the pain in the knowledge that it is not just a fancy holiday but is for a very important and worthwhile cause.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - raising more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Many thanks
