Every day we are taking action to save butterflies and moths at risk of extinction. These are some of the things your donation can help us do...
£10 will buy 20 primrose plants, providing food for Duke of Burgundy caterpillars.
£20 means we can clear 100 sq metres of brambles. The Grizzled Skipper butterfly thrives on old industrial sites like rubbish tips and railway lines but can only breed where the vegetation is kept short.
£30 will allow us to employ a contractor to coppice 100 sq metres of woodland. Letting light into overgrown areas encourages wild violets grow, providing food for High Brown Fritillary caterpillars.
£50 will buy a large insect breeding enclosure, providing a safe place to rear caterpillars and pupa. When butterflies emerge they can be released at carefully selected sites where species have become extinct.
£100 will pay for 10 metres of fencing. Cattle and ponies can be kept in enclosed areas, helping Small Blue butterflies whose caterpillar food plants thrive in well grazed grassland.
£150 will pay for a Conservation Officer for a day, who will advise landowners and site managers on how to protect butterflies and moths on their land and help them apply for grants to fund conservation work.
£250 will pay for a training event for 15 volunteers, who can go on to spend many years looking after our nature reserves, providing butterfly havens for rare species.
£500 will pay for enough seed mix to transform an acre of land into a wildflower meadow, providing a home for thousands of insects.
