My story

Wednesday 13.02.08

Hi everyone,

We returned from Tanzania a couple of days ago after an amazing experience climbing Kilimanjaro.  We reached the summit at 0730 last Thursday having left our final camp at midnight.  That night (what I remember of it) was I think enlightening for all of us as we discovered new limits, drive and motivation we didn't know we had.  Thanks to everyone on the trip for making it such a great group experience and hopefully it's only the first of many more (there are another 6 summits).  Our visit to Light in Africa is also something I'll remember for a long time, and seeing first hand the commitment and achievement of this organisation puts many things back home into perspective. Thanks to everyone who's contributed to my fundraising for this event (the page is still open - it's not too late!) and also to everyone who's helped me in fundraising events, particularly the WHW Run.

CVD Group are now very close to achieving our overall fundraising target of £50,000 for the Anthony Nolan Trust, and every last £1 donated now really will make a difference.

Cheers, and thank you all again.

Ewan

Hola, thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I'm taking part in a trip to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to raise money for The Anthony Nolan Trust, and as an additional fundraiser for this trip we also have a team running a relay of the West Highland Way in October.  I hope you'll be able to support us to raise money for both of these events.

Kilimanjaro is, at 5896m, the highest mountain on the African continent and the highest freestanding mountain in the world, so it's fair to say that the climb should be challenging, as will running a stage of the West Highland Way in our delightful Scottish weather.  At the end of the Kilimanjaro trip, we'll be also be spending some time with a community project called Light in Africa, - www.lightinafrica.org -which is a school, orphanage, and medical outreach service for children, many of whom have disabilities.

A bit about our charity - The Anthony Nolan Trust works to provide and maintain a register of bone marrow donors in order to enable life-saving transplants to leukemia patients.  Every 21 minutes in the UK, an adult or child is diagnosed with leukemia or a related illness, and a bone marrow transplant represents their only chance of life.  Every new donor added to the bone marrow register costs £70, so please dig deep and help me to raise as much money as possible for this fantastic cause.  Please also visit the website at  www.anthonynolan.org.uk and learn how you could save a life by joining the bone marrow register.

A big thanks to everyone else involved in the West Highland Way Challenge - runners, drivers, for getting involved, and to everyone who's sponsored me so far.  Thanks also to everyone at CVD Group for all their fundraising efforts so far this year.  As a company, we've pledged to raise £50,000 during 2007, and our total currently stands at just over £40K - a fantastic sum so far, but we still have some way to go.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Anthony Nolan Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Thank you for your support, your generosity is much appreciated and really will make a difference.

Gracias.

Ewan
