Story
I was born with spina bifida myelomeningocele, which is the most serious form of spina bifida. Basically, the vertebrae in my spine did not form completely, and the nerves and spinal chord at the base of my back were protruding outside my body, in a cyst. In a majority of cases, this leads to damage of the central nervous system, which causes paralysis and loss of sensation below the affected area. There are often bowel and bladder problems, and the likelihood of hydrocephalus.
Very very very fortunately, I am in a small minority to have had a completely succesful operation to close the hole in my spine, and have not suffered any of the symptoms, in what has been a very active and happy life.
So every so often, I try to raise a bit of money for ASBAH, who do a fantastic job supporting people with spina bifida, and their families.
Many of you will know me through www.fetcheveryone.com, and as I'm now employed to run and develop the site, please don't feel obliged to sponsor me. However, if you're deliciously lovely, and you like the site, then this is the perfect way to say ta, and I'd be delighted if you could offer up a few quid.
Right, that's enough of the empassioned speech, here comes the science bit:
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Association For Spina Bifida And Hydrocephalus will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
