Some do it for fun, some do it for the challenge, but all participants do it to raise money for charity. There is another twist, which adds to the fun – and danger – of the event. All vehicles must have engines under one litre, and not be modified. In other words, a key part of the Mongol Rally philosophy is to do it in a car that will be a challenge to drive. Of course, the challenges we will face in trying to cross a third of the planet in a 1979 Mark One Ford Fiesta are nothing compared with the challenges faced every single day by those poverty stricken people in Africa and Mongolia, where life itself is a battle; where every meal and every drink of water is a challenge.

We appreciate you have limited funds but sincerely appreciate any amount of money you would care to give to help us make the journey, but more importantly, to help us make life a little more bearable for those less fortunate than ourselves. If you cannot help with cash for the charities, then we would be extremely grateful if you could offer any products or services to raffle – or for us to make use of on the journey.
