UPDATE: We've done it! Simon and Gerald have finished walking Offa's Dyke, 177 miles!!! The last 55 miles in 3 and a half days
------------
Thanks for taking the time to visit Simon Lakin's 'Final Offa' JustGiving page.
My father-in-law Gerald Edwards and I started walking the ancient national trail known as Offa's Dyke - in stages - in March 2011 (see the map photo). It's a 177 mile walk along the borders with England and Wales, and we set ourselves a challenge to finish it before Gerald is 75 (this September, 2013). We have so far reached Hay-on-Wye and are bracing ourselves for the last hurdle - the 'Final Offa' - which is around 54 miles long, across the Black Mountains on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, before we reach Chepstow.
We are starting this trek on Friday 28th June 2013, with the aim to reach the end near Chepstow on Monday morning, 1 July 2013. It would really help and encourage us along the way if you would donate to our chosen charity, RP Fighting Blindness, who do great work providing help and advice for people with the degenerative eye disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa, as well funding reseach for cures into this range of conditions. We want to raise at least £1 for each mile of Offa's Dyke (177 miles in total hence our target of £177).
Please note - donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now to RPFB - and help Gerald and I to do the 'Final Offa'!
