Well I finally packed in my 20-a-day ciggy habit over a year ago and on May 17th I'm going to run my first ever 10k race, the Great Manchester Run! Yes you read it right!!
I decided to run it for several reasons :
1) Because I want to show my support for George House Trust.
HIV can affect anyone, straight or gay. George House Trust is the HIV charity for the North West of England, providing support for people living with HIV as well as for carers and for children affected by HIV.
They also run the Positive Speakers’ Programme, which promotes understanding of HIV transmission, safer sex and the reality of people’s experiences of living with HIV. It also helps to break down barriers between communities and promote understanding and acceptance.
HIV positive speakers present to diverse groups such as schools, medical professionals, town councils to name but a few...
You can find out more at www.ght.org.uk
2) To keep myself motivated at the gym (which I re-joined last May having done no excercise for 3 years)
3) A personal goal and an achievement to be proud of.
So thanks for visiting my fundraising page. I hope you'll feel able to sponsor me, no matter how small an amount, as "every little helps" as they say.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: George House Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Additionally, budgets permitting, my employer will match the amount I raise through sponsorship so your money will go further.
THANK YOU AND LOOK OUT FOR ME AT THE FINISH LINE ON MAY 17TH!!
