‘Firstfruits’ is a supported housing project, based in Cardiff, Wales, UK, for young pregnant vulnerable women and their babies. It was born out of a vision to see these young women having a place to call their home, and consequently have opportunities to make healthy and informed choices for themselves and their babies.
There are many reasons why young women may find themselves in pregnancy crisis, perhaps left alone, nowhere to live, no support from family or friends and maybe even feeling they need to face the difficult decision whether to abort the baby.
Firstfruits offers a comfortable place for these women and their babies to stay, to receive advice and help, to learn new life skills, to make new friends and become part of a community that cares.
In spring 2008, Firstfruits acquired a house near the city centre of Cardiff. During the Summer and Autumn of 2008, the house was renovated by a team of volunteers and furnished using donations made by supporters of the project. The first Mum-to-be moved into the house in early 2009 and the first ever Firstfruits baby was born in May 2009.

Firstfruits is operating as a division of Going Public. Both Firstfruits and Going Public have been set up and are run by the Glenwood Church, Cardiff (www.glenwoodchurch.org).
