My story

Hello & Salam to all,

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

As some of you know I did an abseil at Canary Wharf last year to raise money for Cancer Research UK. One scary experience, but due to the generosity of so many I managed to raise a lot of money for a really worthy cause.

This year, I decided to do something even more dangerous and wacky and again for a really worthy cause......I'll be jumping off a plane on 7th April 2009 while it cruises at 13,000 feet up in the sky......no I've not gone crazy as there is a mission and purpose to this.

Like most of you, I have been blessed with everything that I have ever wanted, desired or ever needed. This unfortunately cannot be said about the thousands of orphans in third world countries, who too often go without food or clean water for days. So my mission this year is to do something to help some of these vulnerable and unfortunate children in some of the poorest countries in the world.

So one of the things that I've decided to do to help these orphans is to risk my life and do something that will take me to my limits and thus encourage you all to dig deep in to your pockets.

I know times are hard, but imagine how hard it is for these orphans. So please dig deep and donate generously.

For most of us in the west we live a fairly comfortable life.

If we are ill then we have free treatment by some of the top doctors in the world at our local hospitals.

If we need water, we simply turn on our tap and it's flowing freely, clean and free from bacteria and diseases.

If we are hungry and have no money we can rely on the state to support us. We regularly throw away food that can still be consumed, but often we are scared as it's gone past its best before date by one day, although it can still be consumed even a week or two later.

Now imagine you are an orphan living in a third world country:

If you fall ill, then there is no free treatment or top doctors to see you. You just continue with life until you are so ill that you die.

If you need water, then you have to travel miles to get it and even then it's dirty and full of bacteria and diseases, causing you to get all kinds of illness.

If you are hungry, then you have to trawl through the bins for scraps or you're on the streets begging for a few pennies to buy some bread.

Now imagine your child was going through this. Would you stand by and do nothing?

Yes there's a credit crunch and money is tight, but for these orphans the credit crunch is with them every day and 100 times worse and it has been with them since their parents died.
