Four Churches Cycle Adventure - raising money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance

125 miles in 48 hours - From Selby Abbey to Durham Cathedral

 Contact garyr{at}brookswood{dot}co{dot}uk

 We're carrying a prayer to be blessed by the senior ministers of Four Churches , Selby Abbey, Riccall St. Mary's, York Minster & Durham Cathedral. The prayer is for the crew of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and any patients unfortunate enough to need it!

A prayer for the emergency services

Almighty God,

whose son Jesus Christ healed the sick and brought comfort to the weary;

give strength and courage to the men and women

of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Service.

Grant to them your love and presence

in the heart of danger, sorrow, pain and anguish,

that they may continue to find life and hope in the midst of tragedy.

This we pray in Jesus’ name,

Amen

 All the riders are raising STACKS of sponsorship money for the charity too.

  • We head out on Friday 1st Sept - leave Selby at about 6:30pm, cycle 25 miles stopping at Riccall and York to bless the prayer. We cycle onwards to the camp-site at Linton Locks - a gorgeous place by the river, great pub, fab food - pitch tents and sleep.
  • Saturday Morning we depart for the White Horse and a hill climb up and over the Yorkshire Moors - the support cars carry our tents and equipment to meet us at the campsite on the foothills at the other side of the Moors. We camp in a lovely pub campsite - another great meal and beer to help us sleep.
  • Sunday morning up early and down the bank into Middlesbrough, along to Hartlepool for lunch by the sea and then head inland to Durham Cathedral and the final blessing via old railway lines.

The route is mainly traffic free - we trundle through countryside, amazing views and some fabulous industrial architecture in Middlesbrough .

It's a tough ride, but we've plenty of time to do it - even novice riders will manage it, and they'll feel exhilarated when they finish at the huge doors of the impressive Durham Cathedral.
