From my friend Terry. Pauline’s Story   Pauline was also a very happy woman, and always ready with a smile or a helping hand. Her story was not so fortunate however. In January 2009 she found a lump in her left breast and was not so lucky with the diagnosis. It proved not only to be cancerous,  but was also diagnosed as a high grade tumour. She fought though. The lump was removed, and she endured a long period of chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy and by Christmas 2009 things were looking positive. Throughout 2009, despite enduring some tough treatment she retained her good humour and positive outlook. 2010 and 2011 followed without any setbacks and although regular test and check- ups were nervous times, all was going well. In April 2012 however, she was confronted with the news that the cancer had returned. This time chemotherapy was prescribed before surgery to remove the left breast, which was scheduled for the final quarter of 2012. During the pre- surgery checks in November, the news became far worse. The cancer had spread to the other breast. A double mastectomy was planned, and this was carried out on 1st December. Initially, she was making progress and the signs were good, but the Cancer was on the charge by this time. She finally lost her battle on c17th December. I am so proud of the way she battled, even up to the last hours, and my heart goes out to anyone that finds themselves in her position. I hope that any reader of this story will support Warren’s fundraising efforts. This charity Breast Cancer Care, is the preferred charity for the surgeons and doctors who looked after Pauline.

My story is really my wifes story but I will do my best to tell it.

My wife is a happy woman and has always has something to talk about or a story to tell. Then for a few days she seemed not to be her normal chatty self, speaking but not as much as usual, I didnt really think anything of it and just put it down to tiredness. one morning she asked me to feel her breast and like any red blooded man I jumped at the opportunity. She asked if i could feel anything.......I could, I could feel a lump. Your first thoughts are that of cancer although at the time I couldn't  tell her this.....but I'm sure it was on her mind to.

A few days later she saw our local GP who confirmed that there was indeed a lump and referred her to our local hospital for further tests........he then said the word we all dread to hear "the worse case scenario is breast cancer". that word is the most harrowing word I think I have ever heard, that's my wife.....and she could have breast cancer. she came home from work and asked her mother to come around for a chat. on her arrival my wife just broke down and told her the news she had just received.

After a few days the hospital appointment was upon us. I was full with anger.... this is my wife, this cant happen to my wife. we walked into the waiting room and it was then my anger turned to sadness... The room was full of women young and old all there for the same reason, husbands with the same looks on there faces..such a sad room. The test was done and we were told it would take a week to get the results.........that was the longest week off our lifes. My son knew there was something wrong so my wife and I agreed that I sould tell him....how hard do you think it is to tell a 15 year old boy that his mum might have breast cancer.......How hard do you think it is to listen to your son ask if she could die.......how could I answer that, that question broke me.

The results day came and we went back to the hospital not knowing what to expect, As we walked in the waiting room i remebered faces from the week before.....faces that looked so different..so tired...so scared. we saw couples walk in to get there results.....some came out happy.....others...just came out. We walked in to get Lisa's results....which I am pleased to say were not cancerous.

when we walked out of the doctors office I gave my wife a big hug and told her I loved her, brilliant news I was so happy, we were so happy........then again happiness turned to sadness...knowing that there were women waiting for their results some good results some bad.

It was then I decided to raise money for a breast cancer charity.Thats why I chose to raise money for the breast cancer care charity.

Please help me raise funds for this worthwhile cause. But most of all help yourselfs by checking your boobs regulary
