Time to do some sponsored climbing for Greyhound Gap. Greyhound Gap are a charity that take in, foster and rehome greyhounds, whippets and lurchers. They never put a dog to sleep and also take dogs from other rescue centres that would otherwise be on death row. They are made up of volunteers who currently foster the dogs until they're rehomed, and they are trying to get enough money together to secure a property they can use as a kennel. They currently have about 80 dogs in need of rehoming, and will never refuse to take in another dog. Please also bear in mind, that Greyhound Gap is a small charity, and doesn't get the recognition nor the funding or level of donations that some of the larger charities do, but they use what little funds they get very well.
The volunteers are amazing people who give up their time and homes to put a roof over these dogs heads and bring them back to a life resembling normality. Not only are the dogs treated for any ailments, microchipped and vaccinated, the volunteers also spend time with them training them until they are rehomed, treating them as their own so to speak.
It's owning a lurcher myself and knowing what you gain from having such a dog that has spurred me into trying to climb 250 climbs in a week (weather permitting) in order raise money for them. Any money raised is guaranteed to be used well and in the right areas, and every extra penny really does count, these little guys really do deserve a better life than they had.
