UPDATE - I set off at 6am on Sunday after no sleep completing the circuit in just over two and a half hours. I gave up counting how many bikes overtook me at the 280 mark and concentrated on how many unicycles went past (two). I fell off once and got stuck in a bush but a fellow racer stopped to untangle me. If you want to see my GPS tracker click here. It was the hardest thing I have ever done and I never want to do it again... however, thank you all for sponsoring me!!!
Mountain Mayhem is described as, "The UK’s toughest 24-hour mountain bike endurance event, challenging the country’s most fearless riders."
Last year, completely unaware of my latent athletic prowess, Jim Henshaw bet a fiver that I would not be able to complete a lap at Mayhem 2010...Now the proud owner of a ‘full suss’ mountain bike and some hideous, padded lycra pants I have been in training. I have spent hours trailing miles behind my cycling team mates on rock strewn tracks, got off to push the bike up every slope and dismounted at every threatening tree root and ditch along the way.
I am now ready to be overtaken by the country’s most fearless riders.
If you would like me to pedal harder and perhaps not be the slowest person to complete a round, please sponser me here and support Breast Cancer Haven. I have worked for the charity for 6 years and am daily astonished at the difference it makes to anyone affected by breast cancer.
