On 21 May I’m going to be attempting the Yorkshire Dales three peaks challenge with a few close friends and family (many thanks for their support): walking 25 miles and climbing three mountains in less than 12 hours. It includes three great peaks: Penyghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m).
It’s going to be a tough day, and I'm training hard – I'm hoping to have walked around 120 miles to prepare.
As part of the challenge, I’m raising money for the Lake District mountain rescue organisation and would love it if you could sponsor me!
It’s made up entirely of volunteers, who donate their time to helping people in trouble. Last year there were over 600 rescues, which is a 50% increase in the last five years. They do all types, from helping people with broken limbs, to taking people to hospital via helicopter. Sadly, they had 30 deaths last year, a few of which included suicides.
So, all donations are welcome! And wish me luck...
