Swim completed!

It took 13 hours and 50 minutes, and I landed on a nice little beach near Cap Blanc-Nez!

UPDATE 20/7/2009 Its looking likely that I will be going at the beginning of August right now, somewhere between the 3rd and 6th!!! This means training will have to slow down earlier than expected, increasing frequency of swims but decreasing intensity in terms of hour and effort. This can change back at any time, and I will give notice prior to the swim!

UPDATE 06/07/2009 - Split channel swim completed over weekend 35km over Saturday (7hrs) and Sunday (6 hrs) - feeling tired but no joint pain! -Training schedule for July is as follows: Big Swims: Wednesday (8hr), Saturday (7 hr), Sunday (6hr) Recovery swims: Monday (45-60 mins) Thursday (45-60 mins) Days off: Tuesday, Friday

UPDATE 29/06/2009

After a hard two weeks of training in Ireland (ca 103 km of swimming) under the guidance of Ned Denison, I will now be moving down to Dover full-time in preparation for the swim.

Anyone who would like to come down and help me train is very welcome to give me a shout!

The crew will consist of family, friends and experienced channel swimmers (TBA)

Dear All,

After completing the qualifying swim and a relay swim, it appears my Solo Swim over the English Channel will finally happen!

The date above may not be accurate but if all goes as planned (fingers crossed) it will take place sometime between the 13th and 18th of August 2009!

The countless pool hours, fattening up and cold water exposure that training has entailed has meant a great deal of sacrifice in terms of money and time. What has kept me going throughout is the overwhelming support and words of encouragement that you have given, and it is also that which will take me through this summer's training and the swim itself. I cannot thank you enough for this!

Because so many of you have shown interest in this project, and given the irony of me paying thousands of pounds to swim in some of the world's most polluted waters, I thought this would be a great opportunity to raise awareness for charity:water. What better way for you to support my swim than to donate to a cause aimed at clean water access for all?

I aim to update this page on a semiregular basis with news on the swim, photos, and hopefully videos for those of you interested in monitoring progress. In the meantime, I am happy to answer any questions or comments on: f.d.kumlin@lse.ac.uk

Thank you kindly in advance for your support and generosity!

Best Regards,

Fredrik
