We finally completed the cycle ride on the 25th February and only had to rain showers to get through!

We think we cycled a lot more than what we said we would, around 85 miles, due to a few map reading problems and because we had to add on parts to the beginning and end of our route so that we could get home! East Anglia is not as flat as we thought, as it seems that at the beginning of the journey we were going up and down a lot. Thankfully after the first couple of hours it become flatter and the roads better. It was a hard slog with many aches and pains along the way .It took us most of the day and we were very, very happy to get home for a big roast dinner!

Thank you so much to everyone who kindly sponsored us on this challenge.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We will be cycling 70 miles from Norwich to Cambridge which will take an estimated 6 hours. Its probably going to be freezing and a hard slog, so please support us in anyway you can, even if its small it all adds up.

We are raising funds for a very deserving and unique charity. All money raised will go towards The Umoja Centre in Arusha, Tanzania where 80 students aged 14-29 receive free education which enable them to gain the necessary skills and knowledge to go back to secondary school, continue on to further training or start their own businesses.

This organisation is innovative in that it provides free education on a range of subjects from the academic through to health awareness, human rights and small business management. Once the students have completed their courses at the centre they are assisted in finding places at schools, in vocational training or they are given help in developing their own enterprises.

This organisation has been running for less than a year but it is very sucessful. Students have already been given places in vocational training. Zablon Loy has dreamed of becoming a chef since he was little, but because he did not speak enough english and could not afford further training he was forced to depend on others and struggled to earn money on the street. However after completing just 7 months at the centre he gained enough skills to apply for a scholarship on a hospitality course. He is now learning to cook and will be able to find work in the many hotels and restaurants in the region.

For much more information about The Umoja Centre please see the website www.umoja.com.au or email Emma on e_wagner@hotmail.co.uk. Funds will go towards paying the centres running costs including food for students, teachers wages and stationery. Remember with no teachers there is no centre! Just £23 buys a stool and table set for the new classroom. £5.00 buys enough biscuits for all the students for a whole week.
